Portland Metro Birth Doula

Sarah’s Approach to Doula Work

Sarah strives to create a safe and nurturing space for growing families. A nurturer at heart, she brings a natural sense of calm to those around her. She is excited to help support your family through the birth of your baby and help you recognize your power during this transitional period. Sarah aims to be an additional sense of security and empowerment throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum care period. She provides physical, emotional, and informational support to your family, which includes: position suggestions, rhythmic breathing, reassurance, and help connecting with your provider. This support isn't only for the person giving birth, but the support person as well. Her ability to remain composed under pressure makes her a stabilizing addition to any birth story. She is able to supply evidence-based resources to help alleviate any questions that may arise. Sarah hopes to offer unbiased information for people to make the best decision for their body, family, and baby.

Sarah’s Background

Sarah knew early on in her life she was meant to serve her community and previously volunteered with the local fire and emergency departments and Hood River County elementary and middle school wrestling teams. This experience developed her skills to be a soothing presence and ability to skillfully navigate the healthcare system. The strength, stamina and determination helped her during EMS work as well as served her in her wrestling accomplishment. Her history as a coach helps her guide people through physical experiences and work with their body. While studying Criminal Justice in school, Sarah nannied for a family with an infant, ultimately turning her passion for helping children into a career as a doula. Sarah was born and raised in the Gorge with her two sisters. She has a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois pup, Ozzy, who keeps her very busy in her free time. Sarah loves to venture on road trips, camp, and hike while listening to true crime podcasts and her favorite artists: Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers, and Novo Amor. Her favorite places she’s explored are Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah and Sedona, Arizona.
