Meet Winnie
Seattle Metro Postpartum Doula
Winnie’s Approach to Doula Work
Ever since she can remember, Winnie had wanted to be a “baby doctor” which her parents had to translate to “OB/Gyn” for those who asked. As an adult, life had her travel different paths, but she kept being drawn back to reproductive rights, education, and accessibility.
Winnie was introduced to the wonderful world of doulas through a birth she was asked to support where the doula suggested looking into postpartum work. The more research she did, the more she fell for the idea and trained with the Simkin Center at Bastyr University with extra training in perinatal mood disorders to better assist families with a history of mental health needs, history of trauma, birth concerns, and other disabilities.
Winne's approach elevates people around her to be the best them that they are by leading with her actions and creating a safe space emotionally. Coming into a client’s home, she does her best to praise their strengths, listen to their stories, hear and validate their concerns, and set them up for success by bringing comprehensive, evidence-based guidance to the table and uplifting families in their choices.
Winnie’s Background
Having a 10 year background in patient services, insurance, and surgery prep with a local medical center, Winnie has brought knowledge of navigating the complicated medical network to her clients.
Winnie has a vivacious intrigue for culture, language, and snacks, so when not snuggling her client's newborns you’ll find her holed up in the closest bubble tea shop, eating off carts while globetrotting, reading, or cuddling any dog she can get her hands on.
Winnie's future endeavors include supporting families through pregnancy or infant loss, and holding space for folks and families navigating termination decisions and procedures.
